Pastor Cary was born and raised in Lake Tapps, Washington, where he grew up in a loose Catholic home. While attending Western Washington University, he was exposed to the gospel, and there, and the age of 21, he submitted his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Cary began attending Spring Creek Bible Church in Bellingham where he was given his first example of a God glorifying church. He became quickly integrated into the body of believers, learning and growing beneath the teaching of God’s Word. He also served an internship with the pastors of Silver Beach. Around this time, Cary felt a deep desire to serve the Lord in full time ministry. In obedience to this calling, he started attending the Master’s Seminary in California in the year of 1995. Soon after this the Lord brought Lois into Cary’s life–a young woman with a heart for missions and ministry as well.
In 1998 Cary graduated from Seminary. A year later Cary was ordained as a pastor by Grace Community Church, and sent out, along with Lois and their children, as missionaries and church-planters to Berlin, Germany.
For the first two years of their time in Germany, Cary focused on studying the German language, and serving in the local church. By 2002 the Lord had opened all the doors necessary, and Cary and his ministry partners founded the European Bible Training Center Soon after they had the privilege of planting the Bibelgemeinde Berlin. (Bible Church of Berlin)
Cary served as one of the Pastors in the Bible Church of Berlin for nearly ten years, and his wife Lois homeschooled their growing family of children. (Now at a count of ten.)
The German school system is a godless system, and Cary and Lois didn’t want their children inundated with the worldly philosophies and beliefs. They trusted that the Lord would provide for them to homeschool their children, as long as it was His will to keep them in Berlin, which they did for nine of the ten years that they were there.
In the early months of 2009, there was a dramatic change in the German school system which made it impossible for the Green family to continue homeschooling. After much prayer and consultation, Cary and Lois decided that the Lord was transitioning the Green family out of service in Berlin. In following the example of Acts 13:1-3, the elder’s of the Bible Church of Berlin laid their hands on Cary and Lois and commissioned them to the work in Everett, Washington. Cary and Lois and their family moved back to Cary’s home-state of Washington in April of 2009. Where–Cary’s twin brother, Chris Green, had been praying for years that the Lord would send a faithful shepherd with a heart for church planting to Washington, as he saw a great need for godly churches in his area. Both Cary and Chris saw Cary’s return home as an answer to that prayer!
And after two months of prayer, hard work, and preparation, Everett Bible Church was privileged to hold their first service on July 5–in the backyard of Chris Green, as no facility was available! After only two weeks, however, the Lord enabled us to begin renting weekly from Normanna Lodge, in Everett. At the time we had around eighty people attending, and as the months ticked by the Lord increased our numbers. In time, the Lord also supplied two godly men to shepherd as elders alongside of Cary–Chris Green, his brother, and Scott Luse.
After five years of service in Everett, our church had outgrown the facilities that Normanna Lodge had to offer. As there were no other Everett facilities available, the Lord began to move the hearts of the elders to consider the needy areas of Lake Stevens and Granite Falls. After much prayer and fasting, the Lord blessed our congregation by allowing us to purchase our current building. (At the time, known as Sanctuary Ministries.) As we moved into our new facility, the name of Everett Bible Church was changed to Cornerstone Bible Church in keeping with our belief that Christ is the Cornerstone of the Church!
We have enjoyed this building since October of 2014, and have been blessed to see God’s work in our own congregation, as well as in the lives of those from Lake Stevens, Granite Falls and the surrounding areas to whom we are reaching out.
May the Lord continue to build His church, and may we be faithful in the service of Him, in our service of His people, and in the carrying out of His great commission!
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us,
to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
