Biblical COUNSELING at CBC

Are there answers to my problems?

In today’s incredibly complex world, God’s practical counsel is desperately needed. There is tremendous hope in the fact that God has provided His Word, the Bible, to give answers to life’s problems and questions. God says that He has provided everything necessary for a person to know Him and to live in a way that pleases Him. God promises to help and bless those who obey His instructions in the Bible. Therefore, the one who seeks after and follows God’s answers for life can have great hope, contentment, and direction to handle all the pressures of life.

What kind of counseling is offered?

Counseling is made available to help with any problems you may be facing – marriage, parenting, addictions, disorders, fears, anger, grief, depression, anxiety, etc.  Our counseling approach is based upon the truths of the Bible. Since God has fully provided His answers to all of life’s problems in the Bible, it is superior to any other source of counsel. It is our goal, therefore, to skillfully and practically bring God’s wisdom to bear upon the difficulties you are facing.

Who are the counselors?

The counseling staff here at CBC consists of our pastor, elders, and other qualified individuals who are trained in Biblical counseling.
(Note: This training is through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, (ACBC) and is NOT certified with the State of Washington.)

What does counseling cost?

It is our desire that counseling be available to anyone who needs it.   This is why CBC is committed to not charging for the counseling they offer.  The only cost to consider will be  for books and other required materials. (Usually an estimate of $25.) The counseling sessions themselves are provided at no additional cost.

  3. You will need to complete all your homework assignments between counseling sessions.
  4. You will need to  attend one of our Sunday morning worship services every week for the duration of counseling.

What Should I Expect?

Counseling sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis with your counselor.  The day and time might vary depending on what they have available.  Most counseling sessions take between 1 to 1.5 hours. Here’s what you can expect during that time:

Privacy and Care
Everyone on the CBC staff will care for you and treat you with respect. Everything will be held in strict confidence except where, in the counselor’s judgment, there is a Biblical requirement to involve others (e.g. criminal activity).

Encouragement towards Christ-likeness
It is the goal of our Biblical counselors to encourage you in your successes and exhort you to think and behave in a way that pleases Jesus Christ.

Weekly Homework
You will be assigned homework to take home with you between your weekly counseling sessions. The assignments are meant to encourage lasting change, and will also help to demonstrate your level of commitment and involvement in the counseling process.

Give Us Some Time
Habits are not developed overnight, and new habits will take time to develop. In most cases, we ask individuals to commit to regular counseling appointments for a period of 3 to 4 months.
